On July 21, 2013 a lightning strike on Turkey ridge pulled half of the county firefighters to a house that became fully involved and a total lost. Tones in Rappahannock dropped again for a lightning strike home on Nether Road. The remaining fire companies where dispatched along with Madison and Culpeper County Fire. Washington arrived first on scene with heavy brownish smoke banking down engulfing the home. Crew pulled line to front door and with a POV firefighter from Madison entered the house climbing stairs to an loft fire. Quick knock down of visible flame. Ventilation as more firefighters arrived and hidden fires were found and extinguished. The loft area was destroyed with foam/water damage kept to a minimal on lower floors as firefighters performed salvage operations.
