They Lived!

They Lived.  A horrific head on accident occurred between Subaru Forester and a Chevy pick up, sending 3 to nearby hospitals with one on to a trauma center. Overcast skies prevented medivac.  Airbags, curtains, and seatbelts by all saved lives.

Local EMT, HB, crawled through the back window of the Forester to get to the patient from the rear.  Comforting her and assessing her injuries.

Sperryville Fire arrived with jaws of life and used some great maneuvering to cut the front posts and roll back the roof and windshield to gain access to the patient.  Next the car had to be lifted to get her arm out from under the car.  Still trapped, the steering wheel had to be cut in 3 places to free her legs. Great teamwork by all involved.

Patient in the Forester was freed and slid onto backboard and transported by Washington.  Patients in the pickup were packaged and transported by Sperryville Rescue and Washington’s second unit.

Last report was that all survived with the lady in trauma center critical but stable.
